ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Nick and Paige

Nick & Paige met in the spring of 2011 when Paige approached Nick about forming their blues, roots-rock band, Paige & The Reverent Few. The two bonded over their deep love for roots & blues music & it’s paved way for their intimate, singer-songwriter setting. Lively fingerpicking, subtle slide, and floating harmonies add complex and emotional textures to the already rich lyrical repertoire. Influenced by John Prine, The Band, Chess Records, The Wood Brothers, & Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, the two have created a soulful sound & an enticing energy that’s been deeply resonating with their audiences.

The two currently reside in Austin, TX but tour back and forth from Chicago year round, continuing to play with the full band, The Reverent Few.

Nick & Paige independently released their first self-titled EP in the winter of 2013 and are working to release their first full-length record later this year.

Beat Root

Both accomplished singer-songwriters in their own right, Ben Jones and Andrea Magee make up the duo known as Beat Root. Both had released solo recordings before meeting at a show in London in 2013. They were both there for individual performances, and found that their musical chemistry was unmatchable.

In February of the following year, they made their performing debut on a self-funded, self booked 3 month tour of the USA, taking their particular brand of contemporary Blues/Folk from the West Coast to the East. They made waves at an impromptu appearance at SXSW in Austin, TX, picking up a support slot with Dale Watson, and winning a fan in the form of Lucinda Williams.

Jones and Magee incorporate elements of classic 60s Pop, Folk, Blues and Rock n Roll to create an exciting, organic, honest sound, with no technical jiggery pokery, relying instead on good old fashioned showmanship and mastery of their craft to paint their musical pictures, with influences ranging from The Beatles to Van Morrison. They call their sound Retro Roots.

They’re preparing their debut album at this time, recording in Austin, TX, for a late 2014 release independently.
