Free First Friday Featuring Roxy Roca, Keeton Coffman, Joey McGee, and The Lonely Wheel

December 2, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Untitled design-4

Austin, TX-based ROXY ROCA is a powerhouse of southern soul, stirring up your spirit with a gritty and infectious sound influenced as much by soul and funk legends of the late 60s like James Brown, Joe Tex, and Al Green as by early rock ‘n’ roll pioneers like Chubby Checker and Little Richard and early 70s psychedelic funk rockers like War and Sly and the Family Stone. Formed in late 2010, the band quickly developed a reputation for getting a room on its feet and in motion with a sound that has been described as Dynamite Texas Soul — driving, horn-powered southern soul with a certain explosiveness and swagger that is distinctly Texas.

Keeton Coffman

Untitled design (14)

“From the moment Keeton Coffman took the stage, it was painfully obvious that this guy belongs in front of a crowd at all times” (Houston Press).  Heartland Rock and Roll perhaps best describes Coffman’s wide ranging style on his first full length album, Killer Eyes.  From the heel-stomping corner pub song “What We’re Reaching For” and the dancehall flavor of “Ellie” and “Killer Eyes” to the Gospel infused “The Mountain“, Keeton’s style of music evokes the small town Texas sound he grew up with, matched with the knuckle and grit of his true Rock and Roll soul.

Joey McGee

Joey McGee is a Texas-based songwriter living in the Brazos Valley. A New Orleans native, his music is infused with a unique blend of soul, country, rock, blues – and a good dose Creole-Cajun spice!

The songwriter performs both solo and with his band, and he is currently working on his third studio project – Terlingua Taproot – which is due to be released in the Fall of 2016.

The Lonely Wheel

The Lonely Wheel is a local up-and- coming band led by singer-songwriter Matthew Martinez. His passion for music and songwriting has brought life to The Lonely Wheel’s first EP: A self-titled four-song exploration of love, heartbreak, and loss of innocence. Blending Folk and Blues, they bring soulful energy with a sound that’s at once new and familiar.

Martinez is accompanied by the dynamic keys and vibrant vocals of Deanna Sessions and the energetic beats of Joel Sam to bring the full sound of The Lonely Wheel.
