SUMMARY:The Back To School Beatdown feat. In The Trench\, Shattered Sun\, Critical Assembly\, DSGNS & Inside Falling Skies
DESCRIPTION:IN THE TRENCHIn The Trench has established a reputation\, not only for their original and exceptionally tight style\, but for putting together one of the most exciting live performances you will find anywhere. Vocalist Stephen Harding\, and guitarists Jarrod Cook and Michael Giroux\, welcome the addition of bassist Seneca Homeyer (Zero And Falling) and drummer Mark McBride (Red Team Go\, Miphix\, Emura). Their self-titled debut album (2009) shares similarities with their new material (release date TBA). However\, the unmistakable improvement in songwriting\, vocals\, and musicianship in general\, brings with it a somewhat more refined\, and intense flavor. Brutal screams\, crushing power-grooves\, and chainsaw guitar riffs are now accompanied by sharper\, more dynamic transitions and multi-layered screaming & singing vocals. In The Trench is here to make their mark.In The Trench on FacebookSHATTERED SUNShattered Sun is a metalcore band from the small town of Alice Texas\, Formed in 2011\, Their style is heavy/thrash metal with incredible guitar riffs\, vocal distortions and that magnetic raw appeal that allows them to create that maximum effect with every song\, every time. They can sound brutal at times\, but yet they have their melodic side to them. This can only be accomplished through talent and intelligence. They know what their audience wants to hear and they give it to them 100%.. They have the right lineup to deliver the brutal\, yet melodic music that sets us apart from other bands. They take their live shows to another level by bringing enormous amounts of force and energy to any and every stage they perform on.Shattered Sun on FacebookCRITICAL ASSEMBLYCritical Assembly is an emerging modern metal band formed in Austin\, Texas in 2006. Think Pantera and Lamb of God combined with the soul of Led Zeppelin. Vocals have both grit and clean styles similar to Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. Members of CA have been in other bands such as Un Loco\, South Paw Stomp\, Talent to Offend and Veritas. In 2010 brought the addition of Pedro Navarrete of Un Loco\, Exit the Sun and more. Later that year Critical Assembly entered the studio with producer Tim Gerron and tracked their debut album titled “The Indifference of Good Men” at the Music Lab Recording Studio. Upon completion their album was mastered by the Legendary Roger Lian from Masterdisk Studios\, New York. 2011 proved to be a strong year for CA as they toured across Texas to cities including Dallas\, Houston\,San Antonio and more. Voted in the top ten of Austin Chronicle’s “Best Of Metal” category and hosted some of the most successful local metal shows in Austin\,Tx. Critical Assembly has proudly shared the stage with: Shadows Fall\, God Forbid\, Thy Will Be Done\, Ill Nino\, Rigor Mortis\, Psycho-stick\, Black Light Burns\, Hed PE\, Head Crusher\, Prey for Sleep\, Beyond Gods and Empires\, Course of Ruin\, Carry The Storm\, Honky\, Killing in Apathy and many more… In October of 2012 CA entered the studio with producer Joey Duenas to begin recording their second LP. With shows booked across the Lone Star State in 2013 and a June CD release party booked\, CA looks to spread their music across the airwaves nationally.Critical Assembly on FacebookDSGNSListening to DSGNS\, it may prove difficult to define the band with any one genre. In a “paint by numbers” world\, DSGNS was conceived with the ideology that music shouldn’t always be predictable. Building on an omnibus of influences from Cave In to Deftones to Botch\, DSGNS focuses on creating intricate and intelligent songs that urge listeners to think for themselves. Each song pushes and pulls the listener into a soundscape of propulsive drums\, thunderous bass lines\, eviscerating guitars and frenzied vocals. DSGNS eschews genre conventions in favor of creative\, monolithic songwriting. They will eclipse the blight of sterility that is currently being packaged and force-fed to the masses with their honest\, heartfelt and uncompromising music.DSGNS on FacebookINSIDE FALLING SKIESInside Falling Skies is a band straight out of the heart of Texas. Started in the small town of Brenham Tx\, Joshua Arnold\, Reagan Bentke and Brad Schramm started making music together. Through a few years of going through the different styles of music they finally met their calling. From soft harmonies that make your hair stand to screams that punch you in the face\, I.F.S. is a band that everyone can enjoyInside Falling Skies on Facebook

SUMMARY:Musicians Jam
DESCRIPTION:This group of musicians was created by the music-loving minds behind the newest live music venue in the area\, Grand Stafford Theater. It’s for the people who share our passion for music and culture. \nBryan-College Station has a live music scene on the the verge of changing the musical landscape of Texas. Outstanding artists have been moving through our area for many years. Some come from out-of-town and some are grown right here in the Brazos Valley. It is our hope that we can bring the professionals of the music industry in the area together to continue to push\, drive and amplify the bond of those on the stage and behind the music. \nAs a result of individuals building these relationships with one another\, the music culture of Bryan-College Station and the Brazos Valley will abound when the community sees the creativity that comes from our own backyard. \nGrand Stafford Theater is here to help tell the nation about the vibrant music culture that is alive and well right here in the heart of Texas. \nWe ask you to attend our jam and networking sessions regularly and meet new people in the area who share a common interest. Let’s make Bryan-College Station area a place where music is known and remembered.

SUMMARY:FREE First Friday Concert feat. Milkdrive w/ Nick Verzosa And The Noble Union\, Larynx & Daniel Gonzales
DESCRIPTION:Grand Stafford Theater presents: First Friday Free Concert Series:5 PM – Doors open 5:30 PM – Daniel Gonzales 7 PM – Nick Verzosa & The Noble Union 8:30 PM – Milkdrive 10 PM – LarynxMILKDRIVEJazz-grass band MilkDrive features award-winning instrumentalists Brian Beken on fiddle and lead vocals\, Noah Jeffries on guitar and harmony vocals\, Dennis Ludiker on mandolin and harmony vocals\, and Matt Mefford on double bass. But awards reveal nothing about the Austin string band’s exhilarating sound. Fueled by equal parts tradition and innovation\, MilkDrive delivers a distinctive acoustic experience that crosses genres\, geographies\, and generations. The band’s much-anticipated sophomore studio album WAVES\, produced by Bil VornDick\, was released in June 2012. Capturing the band’s sophisticated arrangements and fierce musicianship\, the album showcases a number of original compositions and features guests Noam Pikelny (of Punch Brothers) and Futureman (of Bela Fleck & the Flecktones). Dennis Ludiker\, Brian Beken and Noah Jeffries met as youngsters competing in the National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest in Weiser\, Idaho. Eventually they migrated to Austin\, where they toured with an eclectic mix of bands and honed their songwriting chops before joining up with bass player extraordinaire Matt Mefford and forming MilkDrive. In June 2009\, the band recorded and released a live album\, MILKDRIVE LIVE ’09\, which spotlights the band’s vigorous picking technique and charismatic writing style. Their debut studio album ROAD FROM HOME\, released in April 2011\, combines haunting ballads with their signature instrumentals – “achieving a rootsy feel with a sophisticated edge\,” as reviewer Graham Robertson put it. “A fantastic canvas for solo work.” Andrew Dansby of the Houston Chronicle calls the MilkDrive repertoire “a virtuosic blast of bluegrassy string-band music.” With labels that range from jamgrass and nu-folk to redneck gypsy jazz\, the band has built a following that’s as funky and friendly as they are. The group plays festivals from coast to coast every year\, with stops in between at Colorado’s beloved RockyGrass Festival and at home at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.Milkdrive on Facebook | Milkdrive on Twitter | Official Website \nNICK VERZOSA AND THE NOBLE UNIONNVNU was the 1st winner of the Thirsty Throwdown Battle of the Bands Competition held over 3 months in the historic Ft. Worth Stockyards during the summer of 2012. \nThey competed with 12 bands selected from the venue’s top draws over the previous 2 years for over $12\,000 in cash and prizes including the recording\, mixing\, mastering and manufacturing of the first “Live at Thirsty Armadillo” record. \nThe album was engineered and produced by Lubbock music man\, Jon Taylor\, and the band’s frontman/singer/songwriter\, Nick Verzosa at Mount Vernon Studios in Lubbock\, TX. \nStaunchly independent\, Nick has proven to be that necessary mix of pure talent\, hard work and personality required to dig deep roots into the always competitive Texas music market and shows the ability to spread his branches outside the state lines as well. Averaging 4 shows a week is nothing uncommon for he and his 4 piece band of talented musicians as they continue to impress and entertain a constantly growing fan-base. His strong belief in working hard for what you want is self-evident in his road-warrior mentality\, still finding time to vigilantly hone his songwriting craft\, what he would tell you is his true passion.Nick Verzosa & The Noble Union on Facebook \nLARYNXAfter humble beginnings in the small town of College Station\, Texas the Band now known as “Larynx Music” began what they thought would be a slow and steady growing process. Playing their original music at various open mic nights\, and other events in the college town home of Texas A&M University\, Larynx’s music went viral and made it way across the map… On Monday August 20\, 2012 Larynx Music recorded their first single “The One” along with “Circles” for their First EP ” Cosmic Love ” at ” New Fiction Studios” in Dallas\, Texas with Producer Bryan David. This platform propelled their music off the ground like never before… Larynx Music seeks to inspire and to make the listener feel the pleading vocals\, and thoughtful arrangements of every song. Their music will surely tap at you heart until you let them in.Larynx on Facebook | Larynx on Twitter | Official WebsiteDANIEL GONZALESDaniel Gonzales is a singer/songwriter out of Dallas\, TX currently living in College Station. SUMMARY:Rob Baird w/ The Washers & The Bigsbys
DESCRIPTION:ROB BAIRDRob Baird will be the first one to tell you that he hasn’t always been 100%\, shall we say\, forthright as a songwriter. Back in college (not too terribly long ago)\, he recorded an album that he has since “completely buried” — primarily\, he says\, because back then\, “I just wasn’t writing about anything that really meant anything to me.” His next album\, 2010’s Blue Eyed Angels (which he considers his proper debut)\, was a fair deal closer to his heart\, but even then he was still an artist in search of himself. Songs like “Could Have Been My Baby\,” “Blue Eyed Angels” and especially “Fade Away” all demonstrated that he was ultra-confident in the hooks department and talented enough to sound like he knew what he was doing\, but Baird himself was still not entirely convinced. By striking contrast\, one listen to his new album\, the aptly titled I Swear It’s the Truth\, and it’s clear that Baird has not only found his sincere artistic identity\, but grabbed his sense of purpose by the wheel and pushed pedal to the metal. “I’m moving like the wind through the trees\, like a train on a track\, there ain’t no stopping me\,” he declares on the opening “Dreams and Gasoline. “Let the wheels spin free.” “I just think it’s a really honest record\, and it’s kind of the only record that I knew how to make at this point\,” says Baird. “‘I’ll swear it’s the truth’ is how I feel about all of these songs. I’ve definitely felt this way in the past three or four years\, and I feel like this is a pretty strong collection of songs representing where I am now and what I’m trying to do\, whether it’s for better or worse. “I’ve really spent a lot of time trying to perfect my writing\, or at least trying to figure out who I am and convey that better in my songs\, and trying to perfect the live show\, because I want to be around for awhile\,” he continues. “I just want longevity. If it takes a long time to figure out how to get enough fans to be able to tour the country and stay out there\, then that’s fine. Because if it’s just going to be a flash-in-the-pan kind of deal\, it doesn’t seem like it’s worth doing.”Rob Baird on Facebook | Rob Baird on Twitter | Official WebsiteTHE WASHERSOut of the quiet prairie lands of Texas’ Gulf Coast\, there is a murmur that is gradually getting louder. Amidst the stirring is the recognizable tone of crunchy single-coil pickups and a Gibson J-45 against the backdrop of a walking bass line and the crashing of cymbals. If one listens close enough\, they will find the epicenter of the ruckus in East Bernard\, Texas– a small town more known for kolaches and polka than loud and rowdy Americana music. A band known as The Washers are the makers of the noise\, which some consider a new breed of Americana. Though not reinventing the wheel\, it’s the slight variations from the others in the Texas Music scene that make this small-town band notable. With all of the standard elements typically seen on the stages across Texas\, including Justin Wade Wilcox picking rhythm guitar and banjo\, Rio Tripiano on lead guitar and harmonica\, Matt Kopycinski thumping away on bass\, Mike Faltysek keeping time on the drums\, and Todd Janik strumming the acoustic parts\, one of the unique elements of their dynamic live show is the fact that the four in front share the vocal spotlight. In addition to a different lead singer on seemingly every song\, the four singers constantly shift their roles to create beautiful\, complex harmonies. With a little bit of folk\, a dash of good old rock ‘n roll\, and a whole lot of country\, The Washers are hitting the pavement with both feet running\, trying to spark a fire in the Texas Music scene.Band’s Name on Facebook | The Washers on Twitter | Official Website \nTHE BIGSBYS\n \n“The best songs come from the people and stories you know best\, from the things you’ve experienced.” – Alex Smith\n\nTrue Story\, the new album from The Bigsbys\, consists of stories that are all a little bit true.\n\nThe Bigsbys play original roots rock music. It’s muddy and blue with a soul-filled center. Gritty\, yet easy on the ears… This music is more of a feeling than a product.\n\nThe Bigsbys have toured 9 states and counting in support of their True Story album on top of a full-time Texas schedule.\n\nFour guys from East Texas make up The Bigsbys. Alex Smith(Guitar/Lead Vocals) has been writing songs for the better part of a decade. Brad Hobson(Lead Guitar/Vocals) brings a blues-soaked Gibson SG to the group and gives the tunes a sound like no other. Russell McClendon (Bass) lays chunky\, funky beats down and Nick Odom is featured on drums. The bands sound is all their own\, and their ability to entertain any crowd separates them from the pack of bands touring today.\n\nThe bands first studio album “True Story” features 10 original compositions by the band. True Story is available now on ITunes\, Amazon and Lonestar Music. \nThe Bigsbys on Facebook | The Bigsbys on Twitter | Official Website

SUMMARY:Featherface w/ Whitman & The Docs
DESCRIPTION:FEATHERFACEFeatherface is a psych pop band from Houston\, Texas\, formed in late 2009. The band has released two EP’s\, both written\, recorded\, and produced entirely by the band. Featherface is working to promote their first full-length album\, “Actual Magic”\, which was released on September 1st\, 2012. The new album can be downloaded for free at www.featherface.com.Featherface on Facebook | Featherface on Twitter | Official WebsiteWHITMANFilled with drunkenness\, long nights and debauchery; Whitman’s Weekends is precisely reminiscent of what its title suggests\, a whole lot of fun. Good times are not a new concept for the veteran Austin rock band. Since their formation\, Whitman has been doing everything their own way and having a hell of a good time in the process. Since 2003\, two friends\, Ram Vela (vocals/guitar) and Kyle Johnson (keys/guitar)\, have developed a knack for crafting heart-on-the-sleeve rock songs that tell vivid stories of their experiences; growing up in small Texas towns\, living in Austin\, and traveling the country. Eventually Vela and Johnson teamed up with Eric Jenne (drums) and Micajah Nye (bass) to create a lineup that embodies the bands’ songwriting values of honesty\, dedication and hope. Since their inception\, the band has self-booked multiple tours and had the privilege of opening for many great bands (including Titus Andronicus\, The Walkmen\, GIVERS\, Third Eye Blind and Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears) with their always exciting and raucous live shows. The 11-track record features topics ranging from weekend flings (“NW Thurman\,”” Manchester by the Sea”)\, the struggles of touring (“Dead Dog Days\,””Light it Up”) and the joys of drinking and carousing with friends\, both close and lost (“Barstools\,””Day Drink Pt. 1 & 2”). Just in case there was any question\, Whitman proves they’ve done their rock n’ roll due diligence with influences ranging from The Replacements\, Elvis Costello & the Attractions\, Wilco and The Hold Steady. All the while\, the album never loses touch with the band’s core aesthetic and keeps everything up-beat and energetic; while keeping the listener constantly engaged through singing along\, keeping a cold beer in their hand and getting the odd desire to give out sweaty high-fives. Weekends was recorded by Whitman\, produced and mixed by David Dreesen\, and Mastered by Bob Weston (The Pixies\, Nirvana\, Sebadoh)and will be released on Sonora Records on April 17\, 2012.Whitman on Facebook | Whitman on Twitter | Official WebsiteTHE DOCSA new bold sound of rock from College Station\, TX introduces a modern\, energetic style of music intertwined with a familiar\, classic rock tone. SUMMARY:Trey Brown & Mission Dorado w/ The Bluebird Specials
DESCRIPTION:Trey Brown & Mission DoradoMission Dorado is a dynamic\, eclectic\, mercurial indie folk-rock quartet from Texas. The band takes typical folk song structures and warps them\, with a penchant for heavy grooves and psychedelic guitar-laden soundscapes. The group’s principal songwriter assembled the initial lineup to record the first full-length LP\, Trey Brown & Mission Dorado\, recording and mixing start-to-finish to 2″ tape without the use of computers. This record helped to define the band’s developing style\, highlighting Brown’s adept lyricism and lush\, thoughtful arrangements. Mission Dorado takes a different turn with their newest release\, Yannash Nahollo. Here\, while recalling some of the strengths of previous work\, Mission Dorado explores new musical territory with renewed confidence and perspective. Psychedic\, moody\, pensive\, ecstatic\, hypnotic – this collection of Mission Dorado songs proves to be entrancing\, indelible\, and will surely leave you wanting more.Trey Brown & Mission Dorado on Facebook | Trey Brown & Mission Dorado on Twitter | Official Website \nThe Bluebird SpecialsThe Bluebird Specials are two Missourians and a Pacific Northwesterner who met in a cat house in Big Sky Country. DESCRIPTION:A CANDLE LIT CITYA Candle Lit City have burned a hole in their hometown of Houston’ rock scene since 2008. They have built their career brick by brick\, fan by fan and show by show. From local shows to the Vans Warped tour the band has logged the miles and are NOW prepping for the national spotlight. If you want an alternatively aggressive blend to your metal then look no further than these five southern boys from Texas. Pure adrenaline resonates from every live show while their lyrics speak of deeper topics\, culminating in an emotional whirlwind. “Every song for us has been about growth\, we feel that we are writing our most thought provoking\, yet rowdy music we have ever produced and we couldn’t be more proud” asserts lead singer Ty Johnson. Having grown artistically; Ty (Vocals)\, Wade (Guitar/Vocals)\, Chris (Lead Guitar)\, Alex(/Bass/Synth)\, and Jacob (Drums) realize that all roads lead to NOW. With the force of new music and growing legion of followers behind them the band sets their sights on the pollination of their infectious\, riotous anthems across the US. Expect this journey to leave a trail of friends\, fans and virtual onlookers who can attest to the sincerity of their reverie as well as the generosity of their dedication to living life\, NOW.A Candle Lit City on Facebook | A Candle Lit City on Twitter | Official Website \nAGAINST THE ARCHAICAgainst The Archaic started in Austin\, Tx in 2008. In early 2011 They put out a debut album recorded locally to help build a solid fan base. Eventually\, they decided they wanted a newer\, more solid\, and more current sound\, so from December 2011 to April 2012 they wrote a new cd with a more modern and heavy style. It had tighter music\, better lyrics\, and a better quality recording engineered and produced by Kellen McGregor of Memphis May Fire. The cd released December of 2012 and has been a milestone that pushed the band to bigger and better things. Now\, they are touring and playing all around the Texas area to secure a solid Texas fan base\, with plans for makings their way across the entire U.S among the next year. DESCRIPTION:GOBIThe story of GOBI begins in west Texas\, in the far border town of El Paso\, where Justin Dillon and Phil Arciniega first met. There the thriving grooves and uptempo beats would take them on many sleepless nights and instill an unstoppable curiosity and desire to create electronic dance music. GOBI’s hybrid of EDM mixed with lyrically driven hooks\, has been compared to “RATATAT fronted by Zack De la Rocha”\, and has gained GOBI the reputation for turning any room into a dance party. SUMMARY:Red Line Chemistry w/ Signal Rising\, Brothers N Arms & Saint Carmen
DESCRIPTION:Tickets for this show will only be sold a the door the day of the concert for $10.RED LINE CHEMISTRYRock quintet Red Line Chemistry has announced an April 30th release date for the band’s upcoming album TUG OF WAR. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains\, Foo Fighters\, Stone Sour) the 12-track offering exhibits tremendous growth in the band’s songwriting\, production\, and collaborative process. Following the independent releases of Chemical High & A Hand Grenade (2006) and Escape Plan (2008)\, Red Line Chemistry joined forces with Bulldog Productions in 2009 and released Dying For A Living in 2010. The singles ‘Dumb Luck\,’ ‘You Don’t Get It\,’ and ‘Ultragigantor’ all charted at active rock radio. The acoustic EP and according to the band “All of our parents favorite RLC record\,” Easy Does It followed in late 2011. In 2012\, as a bridge track\, the single ‘Unspoken’ was released to rock radio achieving great success in the active format. It also represents the band’s first in-studio collaboration with producer Nick Raskulinecz\, and marks the beginning of the Tug Of War recording sessions. As they approach a decade together\, Andy Breit (guitar)\, Tom Brown (bass)\, Brett Ditgen (vocals)\, Dave Fyten (guitar)\, and Mike Mazzarese (drums) continue to fight with and for each other in their battle to sustain their ability to do what they love. Lead guitarist Andy Breit shares\, “We’re a tight knit group from the same town and we’ve been together forever. We want our music to grow with us and reflect where we are as people and as a band. We want to explore new ideas and evolve.” Guitarist Dave Fyten adds\, “The aim was to try new things and push our limits. We want to carve our own way and follow our own path.” The growth musically is widespread\, and Red Line Chemistry were the beneficiaries of the tremendous impact of working with producer Raskulinecz. Also in the fold\, producer Matt Hyde (Slayer\, Porno for Pyros) worked closely with Raskulinecz and the band during the early stages of preproduction and production\, and also mixed Tug Of War. Drummer Mike Mazzarese reflects\, “Nick pushed us to find the best within ourselves\, and that was a great thing for us.” The selection of Tug Of War as the album title reflects the dichotomy of the repertoire and the process of creating it. Breit offers\, “About half the songs are heavy and aggressive\, while the others are more subdued and musical. Those dynamics colliding has a lot to do with why we chose Tug Of War as the album title.” Singer Brett Ditgen adds\, “We wrote this record as a democracy. We have a foundation to work through our differences when we are writing and recording. It’s about finding a balance and trying to make it come together in a way that makes all five of us happy with the result. If we can do that\, we feel other people will be happy with the result as well.” Their fifth release overall\, Tug Of War is the band’s second full-length record with Bulldog Productions. The independent label has shown unlimited commitment toward giving Red Line Chemistry the support they need to achieve success. Ditgen shares\, “We’re in a fortunate situation\, because we have a really positive work environment. Everyone is working together toward the goals of our band\, and it’s not necessarily a typical situation\, which we’re thankful for.” Bassist Tom Brown adds\, “Unlike a lot of guys I’ve talked to in other bands\, I don’t have anything bad to say about our label. We have the freedom to be musicians and write music that makes us happy. We guide the artistic side of things and they guide the business side. That’s huge.” Tug Of War affords Red Line Chemistry another chapter in a career that began with the simple dream of finding a future that took them away from their blue-collar midwestern roots. They grow daily as they continue to notch accomplishments on their belt\, gain respect amongst their peers\, and garner exponentially more fans with each release. Fyten declares\, “We have all evolved and found the pocket of who we want to be.”Red Line Chemistry on Facebook | Red Line Chemistry on Twitter | Official WebsiteSIGNAL RISINGRock that will snatch you up….draw you in! SUMMARY:Blue Bear w/ The Southern Renaissance\, Elkhart & Trey Lyon
DESCRIPTION:BLUE BEAR\n \nBlue Bear is a 5-piece indie/folk band based in Austin\, Texas. Following in the footsteps of their biggest influences\, Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear\, Blue Bear has quickly gained a reputation for their infectious melodies and impeccable four-part harmonies. \nBand founders\, and former high school classmates\, Brandon Aguilar and Jeremy Holmsley started the band in the Summer of 2011\, quickly recruited another former classmate\, Casey Arthur\, and played as an acoustic trio for several months\, performing at open mic venues in Austin. The three recorded the first EP in January and by February of 2012\, the full band performed for the first time (with yet another former classmate\, Jeremy Wilkinson\, on drums and Holmsley on bass). They quickly recruited bass player and vocalist Khoury Moore\, not only to hold down the bass\, but to add a fourth harmony. \nIn May of 2012\, Blue Bear won The Recording Conservatory of Austin’s 6th Annual “Unsigned Artist Competition\,” after competing against bands from across the country in an online vote-getting contest\, as well as a final 4 showcase in front of industry reps. In June\, they were handpicked to be the featured band at The Art Institute of Austin’s “Summer Studio 2012\,” a week of master classes and workshops for high school students interested in pursuing audio engineering\, photography\, graphic design\, and more. \nBlue Bear has mesmerized crowds all over the central Texas area with their unique sound and intricate harmonies. They are quickly building a dedicated fan base in the Austin area and are currently working on their second EP. \nBlue Bear on Facebook | Blue Bear Band on Twitter | Official Website \nThe Southern RenaissanceAs front man Michael Donner entered the Dallas music scene in 2011\, he had partnered up with old friends Eric Pearson and Jackson Giles to help bring some of his songs to life and get them out in the open. The trio put their heads down\, drawing from influences such as Ryan Adams\, Bob Dylan\, and The Band\, and they constructed a cohesive Americana/Alt-Country album that took them to a studio in historic Muscle Shoals\, Alabama. Michael Donner & The Southern Renaissance’s debut album No Better Time\, released in September 2011\, earned them high marks from the local music scene\, being deemed “not only one of the best under the radar releases of the year\, [but] one of the best releases period.” (Chip Frazier\, Twangville). The Dallas Observer even listed it as one the “Four North Texas Albums You Need”. In 2012\, the group added a full-time rhythm section with new members John Aisner (drums) and Blake Butler (bass). Riding on the popularity of their debut album and by their memorable and energetic live performances\, the group has been given the opportunity to open up for major artists such as The Civil Wars\, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit\, Ray Wylie Hubbard\, Wayne Hancock\, Dylan LeBlanc\, Will Hoge\, The Wheeler Brothers\, and Junior Brown. With a full time five-piece band\, the group has undertaken a much more collaborative writing process as they construct what will become their next album\, and they are now known only as The Southern Renaissance. The Southern Renaissance on Facebook | Official Website \nELKHART\n\nElkhart is a Dallas-based indie rock band formed in late 2007. The guys in the band – Travis Hopper\, Michael Crowder\, Jarad Brown and Justin Bolin – met over the course of the 2000’s while playing in other Dallas-area acts. Travis writes the lyrics\, sings and plays guitar\, Michael plays electric guitar\, Jarad plays the drums and percussion\, and Justin plays bass. \nTheir debut album “The Moon” (self-released 2008) was recorded and mixed in Dallas\, TX at Pleasantry Lane Studio with Salim Nourallah and Rip Rowan. It was mastered in New Windsor\, NY at West West Side Music by Alan Douches (Midlake\, Sufjan Stevens\, My Morning Jacket). \nGuest musicians include Eric Pulido (Midlake)\, Kevin Minihan (Eastwood)\, Daniel Hopkins (Radiant)\, Salim Nourallah\, and Rip Rowan. \nDelusions of Adequacy said this about “The Moon”: \n“Elkhart’s first record is as profoundly beautiful as most great artist’s fourth record. A little bit of that Wilco alt-country aesthetic without feeling like a ripoff…songs that are remorseful and tragic without feeling overly nostalgic and trite….a bit of dust on their guitars and dullness to their drums\, they come off as thoughtful\, introspective\, and authentic. The Moon is covered with breathy\, deliberate vocals\, kind of like a subdued Silversun Pickups\, copping the same kind of dreamy\, wistful feel\, but softer\, older\, heavier. I really like how Elkhart takes its time with this record. It has an old\, well-traveled feel…it’s the same delivery the Wrens use\, and I think we all know how fantastic that band is. Like the Wrens\, Elkhart evokes powerful emotions with so little\, making the whole record seem effortless. It makes me want to drive somewhere far\, even though I know there’s nothing there for me. This isn’t a record about getting what you want. It’s about wishing you could go back and do it over\, so maybe\, just maybe\, this time around you have a shot.” \nElkhart on Facebook | Official Website

SUMMARY:Straight Line Stitch w/ Hindsight\, In The Trench & Myra Maybelle
DESCRIPTION:Tickets for this show can be purchased over HERE\nSTRAIGHT LINE STITCHHeavy metal and hard rock fans are a fickle and discerning bunch. Bands that attempt to make a career for themselves by trend jumping with half-hearted devotion do not last. Straight Line Stitch has been steadily ascending the ranks of metal and hard rock through authentic and impassioned performances\, an organic evolution of their writing and recording\, and a tried and true road warrior mentality towards touring. The band defined who they were early on in their career and held steadfast to their beliefs while making the natural progressions and growth of a committed touring band. While being genuine at the core of a band’s being is an absolute necessity for credibility and longevity\, it gets you nowhere fast if the songs do not matter. The SLS sound is commanding and universal\, engaging casual fans of hard rock and satiating the most stringent fans of metal. The tenacious musicianship is on full display upon first listen\, quickly establishing the virtue of the players. The balance between aggressive punch and highly charged hook goes a long way to explaining the wide and diverse range of devoted SLS loyalists. Whether sharing the stage with the titans of metal like Slayer\, or playing a coveted slot at the Punk driven Warped Tour\, Straight Line Stitch captivates and levels all in attendance. Vocalist Alexis Brown is a blazing persona that demands the attention of a room. Throughout their songs\, Alexis navigates a seamless shift from harrowing screams to heartfelt melody that adds depth and sincerity to their music. Her clean vocal parts never take a back seat to the punishing screams\, as they are sung with an assertive power and spirit that soar mightily.Straight Line Stitch on Facebook | Straight Line Stitch on TwitterHINDSIGHTThe riff and percussion driven hard rock band “Hind§ight” formed in Sugar Land\, Texas at around the turn of the millennium with a group of young musicians desiring to make music that would both rock hard but melodically inspire the minds of an audience. Hind§ight’s music is focused on the life experiences of each of the band members. So\, if you are at a Hind§ight concert\, feel free to ask them about some of the stories behind the songs. If you are looking for disingenuous Disney pop music written by industry song writers for pop singers who need auto-tune just to get out of bed in the morning\, this is not your band and may god have mercy on your soul. If you want some rock music that you can jam to and relate to in your daily life come and rock out with us.Hindsight on Facebook | Official WebsiteIN THE TRENCHIn The Trench has established a reputation\, not only for their original and exceptionally tight style\, but for putting together one of the most exciting live performances you will find anywhere. In The Trench is here to make their mark.In The Trench on FacebookMYRA MAYBELLEWe all come from a long line of musicianship. Will and Camo were formerly members of Behold the Great Throne. After BTGT departed ways Will\,cam\, and former guitar play of sea of wolves luca\, decided to launch a new project with no limits. Night after night the booze clanked the walls shaked and and music littered the air. We had minor set backs\, but we shook them off and rose out of the ashes and found the Norwegian pancake-c lo green\, and former Transcend before Azalia bassist Michael Brammer\, to form what you would call powerhouse band “Myra Maybelle”. Music is love. Friendship is key. And family is everything.Myra Maybelle on Facebook

SUMMARY:Seryn w/ Chambers
DESCRIPTION:SERYNSeryn is a 5 piece band who calls Denton\, Texas their home. When listening to the well layered textures of guitars\, ukulele\, accordion\, bass\, viola\, banjo and various percussion\, it’s hard to imagine This Is Where We Are is the band’s debut effort. The band’s strength resides in their vast musical talent and understanding of dynamics. Their beauty is gracefully displayed through chilling harmonies. Each member and their voice carry the same importance. One is not complete without the other. It is in this craft that the young band shines so bright. It has earned them a sound that isn’t easily defined\, but still proven triumphant. What may first appear as straight folk songs\, later transcend into menacing walls of sound. The term “Folk-Pop” has been thrown around and maybe it loosely fits\, but we will leave the definitions up to you.Seryn on Facebook | Seryn on Twitter | Official Website \nCHAMBERSChambers is a mood-rock band from Denton\, TX. They’ve grown quickly and proven their adaptability\, while adding to their lineup. Chambers has shown an intense hunger for more. The final product consists of five members who each bring something unique to the table. Chambers’ recent release of a one take\, live-sound music video\, for their song “Make It So\,” was well-received and got released with an interview on (local art blog) We Denton Do It. They’ve released a self-titled demo. Rumors of a pending album engineered in Redwood Studio by members of Midlake are spreading. An album release in the coming months is anticipated.Chambers on Facebook | Chambers on Twitter | Official Website
