Originally known in Spanish as El Laberinto del Fauno (The Labyrinth of the Faun), Pan’s Labyrinth is a 2006 dark fantasy film that takes place in Spain five years after the Spanish Civil War. This real world and a mythical world centered on an overgrown abandoned labyrinth are intertwined as main character, Ofelia, the stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer, escapes into an eerie but captivating fantasy world where she meets several strange and magical creatures who lead her through the trials of the old labyrinth garden.
