Alex Riddle with Cottonwood Crows

September 7, 2017 @ 7:30 pm

Alex Riddle

“I want the listener to feel that something dramatic is happening, that something is at stake,” says singer and guitarist Alex Riddle of his approach to songwriting. “I’m not interested in easy listening.” Aiming for immediacy and emotional depth, Riddle draws from influences like Jeff Buckley, Wilco, and Radiohead for a dynamic take on indie rock. Part of the burgeoning indie scene in Houston, Texas, he has shared the stage with acts such as Big Thief, The All American Rejects, Seratones, and Quiet Company. His latest release, Live from 226 Recordings, captures the raw live sound of Riddle with his band, showcasing Riddle’s musical range—from pensive balladry to muscular rock’n’roll. Hear what Houston Press called “versatile, eclectic, and polished,” and look out for a new single slated for release in October.
