The songwriting skills of Waylon/Davenport are those of a 48 year old songster, which is their ages combined. Their upbringing in small town Texas comes through in every song. Seemingly True to life songs such as, Fifth Street, One Phone Call, Somewhere West of Thorndale, etc. vividly express the drinking, partying, getting arrested, not getting arrested, laid back, pickin’ on the porch type of life that, at least this reviewer strives for. Amanda and Hang on Jack are somewhat touching tear-jerkers, but still have an edge, that thankfully, will keep them out of the BS Nashville scene. Livin’ Single and Wal-Mart Greeter keep you smilin’, Breakin’ The Habit keeps you partying, The Drifter make you feel good inside and Last Ride leaves you wondering.
