THE SHAKEDOWN
The Shakedown has been hard at work lately. The band produced and released a self-titled EP in Sept. 2011 which, within the year, had SOLD OUT.
Now they’ve teamed with acclaimed producer/engineer Dylan Ely (Linkin Park, All American Rejects, Against Me!) of The Loop Studios to record their debut, full-length album released Sept. 2013. Lead single “Close To Me” has led the charge on regional radio and online with a new music video.
The Shake Down have paid their dues performing regularly around Texas, working their way to the top of the heap. They even were voted Corpus Christi’s “Hottest Band to Watch” their first year together.
People often ask if the band digs on the likes of Kings of Leon or Black Keys, two groups that draw most comparisons. And, hey, they jam too. But The Shake Down make it all their own.
This South Texas band got going early 2010 after three musicians from different rock groups wrote songs together based off the music they love and bands they admire. The members’ unique musical backgrounds meld to create a catchy / soulful / hard-rocking sound that grabs your attention while the girls head for the dance floor.
The Shake Down describe their sound as “Southern Alternative” with a touch of that “Rolling Stones” soul.
Songs like “Never Coming Down” a fast-paced rollicking jam that repeats the mantra – “I’m so high, I’m never coming down!” or tracks like “Dirty Mind,” a nasty blues song that coaxes listeners into slow, soulful moves.
The band hearkens to the classic days of Rock N’ Roll when you needed a melody that stuck and a great riff to match.
When they aren’t hard at work on new songs, you can find members hanging with friends around a late night beach bonfire or surfing on the coast in the Texas sun.
Look for The Shake Down touring across the country FALL 2013 behind their debut album “Hold On,” which is already generating buzz on music blogs and regional radio.
Wes Taylor & Friends
Wes Taylor is a local musician/songwriter/worship leader that was born and raised right here in the heart of the Brazos Valley. For the past 6 years Wes has been actively involved in the Bryan/College Station music scene and has expressed his love for music through songwriting, performing, leading worship, running live sound, and working as an audio engineer in the area. Since 2009, Wes has written, recorded, and produced three albums with brother Josh Taylor at their home studio in Bryan, TX. The past couple years has brought about a lot of new music along with a 5 piece blues/rock band that have hopes to fully return to the secular music world and quickly develop into a well known group in the area.
