BLUE BEAR
“Earthy and layered with a warm yet urgent vibe, Blue Bear isn’t the only scruffy-but-sophisticated pack of indie-rockers casting their lot in the always-crowded Austin music scene. But, even at less than two years of existence, they may be one of the most promising, stacking melody upon melody with the sort of rootsy grace often attributed to their heroes (Fleet Foxes and the Decemberists among them). The occasional rockabilly-inspired guitar lick, folksy cover, or twangy harmony might give a little rustic texture to their music, but overall the Blue Bear collective is among the most forward-looking bands to occasionally cross paths with the Americana singer/songwriter scene in modern Texas.”

WALKER LUKENS
In the past two years, Walker Lukens has released two EPs, an album, a 7 inch and played some 130 shows in four countries and 25 states. You probably didn’t know that because Walker was not always good at using the Internet. You might know that his most recent album, Devoted, was released in April of 2013. Praised by NPR’s All Songs Considered, American Songwriter, Billboard, MTV Hive, and Houston Chronicle and locally by Austin American Statesman, Austin Chronicle, and KUT‘s Texas Music Matters, Devoted is “…a masterful and expansive collection of progressive contemporary indie pop,” according to the Houston Chronicle.
More recently, Lukens has put together a 5-piece backing band called The Side Arms. Having already shared stages with such national acts as Band Horses and Heartless Bastards, Walker Lukens & The Side Arms are making a name for themselves. “At one moment heartbreakingly soulful, the next barn burningly raucous, newcomer Walker Lukens’ set had listeners in the palm of his hand,” writes Austin Fusion Magazine.

Ideophonic
Ideophonic is comprised of four dedicated, hard rocking dudes from South Texas; trying to bring good music that people can connect to.
Ideophonic is Joel Nino on vocals and bass, Armando Ibarra and Chris Moore on guitar and Milton Rodriguez on drums.
The roots of Ideophonic can be traced back to Armando’s garage in Brownsville circa 2006. Armando sought out to make a band that was closer to his taste of music and craved the camaraderie of being in a band. Armed with ambition, he found Milton by posting flyers around the local college campus and Joel through Myspace. Chris Moore was contacted after meeting him at a local show.
It was tough at first – Four stanges from different walks of life trying to make music together. After frequent experimentation and sharing influences with eathother; common ground was found through bands like As Tall As Lions, Radiohead and Death Cab For Cutie. The desire to make music they could be proud to play and call their own has them on the cusp of a May 2013 tour backing their newest album release “Where the Desert Ends.” After bonding over the stuggles of being indie rock verterans of 6 years; they’ve come out the other end stronger and more determined to make their mark on whoever is willing to listen.
