Downtown Bryan Association Presents ShakesBEER

March 5, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Shakespeare said “All the world’s a stage” and that includes your favorite Downtown Bryan bars! On March 5, Downtown Bryan is thrilled to host the first ever ShakesBEER pub crawl outside of NYC with actors from the New York Shakespeare Exchange. With your ticket purchase, you’ll visit 5 bars, receive 5 drinks, and see 5 live Shakespeare performances. The evening will conclude with excerpts from the Sonnet Project, which features Shakespeare’s sonnets filmed in contemporary New York City. It will also include a premiere of a sonnet filmed right here in Bryan!

ShakesBEER coincides with the opening of Shakespeare’s First Folio at Texas A&M University the following week. Texas A&M was chosen as the only location in Texas during the First Folios tour through the United States. The First Folio, published in 1623 by two of Shakespeare’s colleagues, is important because it’s the first collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays. It contains 36 scripts and is the original source for such classic works as “Macbeth,” “Julius Caesar,” “Twelfth Night” and “The Tempest.” Of the 750 copies believed to have been originally published only 233 survive today.

Downtown Bryan Association is proud to partner with the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at Texas A&M and the New York Shakespeare Exchange to bring this once in a lifetime event to Bryan/College Station.

Tickets are limited and two tours will be offered through out the afternoon.
