FEAR AND WONDER

FEAR AND WONDER, the metalcore sextet, are
ready to show the world why everything is bigger in Texas, with their
recent release of their first EP, Beauty Is The Beast on March 19th
, 2013. Hailing from Houston, Texas post-hardcore outfit Fear and Wonder formed in October of 2012. Their music can be described as a mix between Asking Alexandria and A Day To Remember, with some heavy metal influences, bringing about a fresh take on metal in today’s music scene. Comprised of vocalist Albert Gonzalez (ex-The Great Comission), guitarist Nate Gilbert, guitarist Jameson Teat, bassist Brad Black, keyboardist/clean vocalist Melissa Sterling, and drummer Corey Good (ex-Modern Day Escape), the band is ready to cause an earthquake in the heavy music scene this year. In a scene notoriously dominated by males, Sterling smooths out Fear and Wonder’s heavy moments with her keys and melodic vocals. Gonzalez teamed up with the rest of the members, whom he knew through directing their bands previous music videos, and cites as “some of the best musicians and people I’ve ever worked with”. Over the past six months the band has released two music videos, received over 3,000 likes on Facebook after one month of launching, and recorded their five song debut EP. Last month’s release of their new single and music video, “Like A Movie” (directed by frontman Albert), marks a stepping stone in the band’s career, receiving over 7,000 views in just four days. With undying momentum after the band’s social media success, Fear and Wonder are ready to share Beauty Is the Beast with their passionate fans, and are set to hit the road later this summer. The five tracks were produced by phenomenal upcoming producer, Robby Joyner (ex-The Great Commission), and blend even heavier and melodic elements together than featured on their previously released tracks. Albert says the band put “every ounce of our music passion into creating this album” and the band cannot wait to play the tracks for new listeners all over the country and the world.

AS ARTIFACTS

Formed in Concord, California as “Sink This Ship!”, the band quickly exploded onto their local music scene, performing sell out shows to hometown crowds, and began to lay the foundation of their following in several other surrounding markets, including the Sacramento area, the Central Valley, and as far away as Reno, Nevada, all within their first six months as a band. The band embarked on their first tour over the Summer months of June and July 2010, covering California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

After numerous home demos that received rave reviews, and various lineup-stabilizing member changes, the band recruited Sam Pura of the Panda Studios in Fremont, California (Heavy Heavy Low Low, Suffokate, Lionheart) to record and produce their first professional demo. The EP would soon sell hundreds of copies through internet and word-of-mouth promotion alone.

In late 2010, the band changed names to the current “As Artifacts”, and attracted the attention of Ohio-based InVogue Records (owned by Nick Moore of Before Their Eyes), who quickly signed them and commissioned the band’s debut InVogue release, again recorded with Sam Pura at the Panda Studios. “Reclamation”, the 7-song EP, was released on February 22nd, 2011, debuting at number 3 on the iTunes metal charts, and sold hundreds of copies first week, with limited publicity.

Soon after the release, the embarked on heavy gigging, performing on “The Gnarlie Sheen Tour” in May 2011, and spent the remainder of the year performing throughout the West Coast.

After departing IVR in late 2011, the band self-produced a new single, “Bilbo Swaggins”, released in January 2012 to resoundingly positive reviews. They entered the studio to self produce their debut full-length, entitled “Strong Hands”. The album was released on August 28th, 2012 to widespread critical acclaim, with the title track garnering over 1,000 YouTube plays in under a day. Prior to the release, the band embarked on a short album release tour for Strong Hands, playing shows in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada.
