Featherface 7″ Vinyl Release Show w/ New York City Queens & Should’ve Been Cowboys

November 7, 2013 @ 9:00 pm - 11:55 pm

Featherface is a band from Houston, Texas that has quickly gained a reputation for its energetic live performances and over-the-top, divergent approach to pop music.

Following up their debut LP ‘Actual Magic’ with relentless touring and appearances at several prominent music festivals, including Free Press Summer Fest and Index Fest, Featherface is continuing to evolve with the release of two new singles on 7” vinyl this October.

“Featherface does the near-impossible-in my book, at least-by taking loose-limbed, organic, all-over-the-map psych-rock and marrying it to full-on, wide-grinning, right-in-your-ear arena-pop. And, against all odds, making it work amazingly, awesomely well in the process.”
– Space City Rock

“[It Comes Electric]…bursts with youthful energy, a lush and varied sound, smart arrangements, and some damn catchy songs”
-Free Press Houston

“Out of nowhere these guys came out with an album that is honestly undeniably one of the best albums of the year.”
– Indie Houston

“Guitars occasionally peal out toward faraway corners, or organ notes will shudder against thin metal walls, adding a textural richness to Featherface’s adventurous sound.”
– We All Make Music

‘It Comes Electric’ named “5/5” in IMR Magazine’s best rated albums of 2011.

New York City Queens is a Houston based Indie/Pop band formed in the spring of 2011 around their debut album, ‘Somewhere Different, Something New.’ Blending influences that range from early pop to contemporary modern rock, NYCQ has solidified a signature sound on their sophomore release, ‘Burn Out Like Roman Candles.’ The Queens are currently booked for an east coast tour to and from their upcoming official CMJ performance.

“The Queens mash together pretty much every type of pop imaginable, from surf-pop riffage to jangly, Elliott Smith-esque folk to ’70s-retro power pop (which brings to mind The Push Kings, for me) to shimmery dreampop to head-nodding, upbeat New Wave, and heat it up ’til it all melts and intermingles and mixes, coming out a candy-colored, thoroughly great pop-rock amalgam that’s just about impossible for a pop-song fanatic like myself to resist.
Some bands take years to hit their stride — these five kids apparently only needed 10 months or so. My hat’s off to y’all.” – Jeremy Hart, Space City Rock
