May 30, 2013 @ 8:00 pm - 12:00 am

SECOND LOVERS

Second lovers is a 6 piece Indie Folk band from Houston, TX. The band was formed in 2010 after the splitting of Lunara. Second Lovers started as a series of recordings done by Nic Morales with Santiago Perez. Upon completing an EP, Nic asked Kathy Garza, Henry Largo, and Ashley Parker to assist in performing the tracks locally. In the summer of 2012 the band released their debut album “Wishers, Dreamers, & Liars” and has received outstanding reviews. Currently the band is touring, writing, and excited about playing a show near you! The band has played several festivals including the Main Street Block Party, Spring Forward Festival, The Houston Wine Festival, Free Press Summer Fest, The Big Spill, and Montrose Winter Social.

JEFF WHITEHEAD

Jeff Whitehead will release “Bloodhound Heart” in the spring of 2013. Produced by Scott Davis (guitarist with Hayes Carll; Producer for Rob Baird, Trishas, etc.) the album contains 9 songs written by Whitehead that span the spectrum of emotion, from heartbreak to lasting love to the angst of the introspective troubadour. It will be available to music fans in exchange for United States currency. It should be noted that he will no longer accept pesos or confederate dollars as payment.

In the last four years, Whitehead has released an album, an EP, 2 singles to Texas radio, and continued touring, sharing the stage with great artists such as Cory Morrow, Mike McClure, Johnny Cooper. “We love being on the road, and getting to work with such great musicians and songwriters, it really makes it all worth it,” says Whitehead.

Whether he is rockin’ with his band at a smoky dancehall or listening room, or just pickin’ a guitar or piano at home, you’ll notice one thing: he cares a hell of a lot about the song. And listeners are quick to pick up on this sentiment when listening to “Bloodhound Heart”. The album captures the energy and soul that has been winning over radio stations and audiences and is another great example of Whitehead’s dedication to the craft of songwriting.

Whitehead stumbled into the world of songwriting when, during his sophomore year at Texas A&M University, he happened across a copy of American Songwriter Magazine and found their renowned Lyric Contest. Though he had written poetry and short stories, he had never written a song. After writing 5 songs, he mailed in his efforts and waited. The effort paid off. At age 19, he had won first place in the international contest for his song “Coffee and Dreams” (now featured on the album “Outlaw in My Mind”). Along with having his song published in the next issue of American Songwriter Magazine and receiving a Martin Guitar, Jeff received the most dangerous thing you can give to a songwriter: validation.

With this new found energy, Jeff teamed up with Granger Smith (producer), to showcase his lyrical prowess with great country rhythms on the album, “Outlaw in My Mind” (2009). With an album recorded and nothing but blind faith and ambition, Jeff graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Wildlife Biology and moved to Austin the next day.

Now, with countless shows and two albums including two radio singles under his belt, and an upcoming full length album, this year is sure to be an exciting year for Jeff Whitehead music fans alike.

WADE HILL

Wade Hill and the Texas Avenue Band got its humble start in the spring of 2012 while playing various hot spots on Northgate during the financially trying times of a typical College Station summer. Since then, the group has been booking a steady amount of shows that range from Northgate, to Greek Venues, Tailgates, and pretty much any other venues that appreciate the finer sounds that country music has to offer.
