Stand Your Ground w/ Nine Minutes, Myra Maybelle, DSGNS, Heroinme & Solomon

January 14, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

STAND YOUR GROUND

Formed in 2007, Stand Your Ground have become quite the force to be reckoned with. Touring relentlessly since the band’s inception has led to a strong fan base in the United States. Solidifying their lineup, Stand Your Ground have been hard at work developing their unique take on hardcore and metal. With crushing music and an even more powerful live show, they’ve been able to reach both sides of the hardcore and metal spectrum.

NINE MINUTES

With their signature clash of gut-wrenching guitars, brutal breakdowns, mathy drums, and manic screams, Houston/Katy’s Nine Minutes consistently delivers a powerful and energetic performance. Their music drives straight toward the heart of hardcore with one eye toward sharp and expansive songwriting, and the other toward provocative lyrics that stab at issues like consumer culture, religion, addiction, and existential pain. It seems like Nine Minutes follows a “live fast, die young” aesthetic don’t be fooled! Members Jeff Jones (vocals), Brad Farabough (guitar), PJ Pennington (guitar), Rodney Hall (bass guitar), and Chris Moye (drums) know that living fast and staying alive to tell the tale is how men are made.

The first, self-titled EP announced their arrival April 2012. The new EP “Art Dies In This Town” is out now on Visionary Noise records and boasts tight rhythms, complex leads, and an artistic vision of a cultural wasteland. It is currently available on over 60 online stores including iTunes and Google Play! Better yet, pick up a hard copy at any of our shows and various local Houston record stores to get the beutifuly designed jacket. Also join our page for show invites and inappropriate posts.

MYRA MAYBELLE

We all come from a long line of musicianship. Will and Camo were formerly members of Behold the Great Throne. After BTGT departed ways Will, cam, and former guitar play of sea of wolves luca, decided to launch a new project with no limits. Night after night the booze clanked the walls shaked and and music littered the air. We had minor set backs, but we shook them off and rose out of the ashes and found the Norwegian pancake-c lo green, and former Transcend before Azalia bassist Michael Brammer, to form what you would call powerhouse band “Myra Maybelle”. Music is love. Friendship is key. And family is everything.

DSGNS

Listening to DSGNS, it may prove difficult to define the band with any one genre. In a “paint by numbers” world, DSGNS was conceived with the ideology that music shouldn’t always be predictable. Building on an omnibus of influences from Cave In to Deftones to Botch, DSGNS focuses on creating intricate and intelligent songs that urge listeners to think for themselves.

Each song pushes and pulls the listener into a soundscape of propulsive drums, thunderous bass lines, eviscerating guitars and frenzied vocals. DSGNS eschews genre conventions in favor of creative, monolithic songwriting. They will eclipse the blight of sterility that is currently being packaged and force-fed to the masses with their honest, heartfelt and uncompromising music.

HEROINME

Hailing from the musical mecca that is Austin,TX, heroinme is all that you want in a metal band. Heavy, brutal breakdowns, with a fast and aggressive in your face attitude, southern shredness, epic leads, catchy vocals and a driving force of rhythm second to none. With ex-members of Set Aflame, Thumbscrew, Calico System, and Aviana, this quintet have all of the qualities of a powerhouse of modern metal.
