WE B3 — Veteran jazz cats Richard Kent, Chris Hollar and Greg Tivis unleash their musical creativity in a powerhouse fashion with hard-hitting drums and blazing tenor sax lines centering around the sound of the most powerful and dynamic instrument in the world–the Hammond B3 organ. It’s jazz, funk, and blues at its best!

For the hardcore jazzheads, WE B3 is a heavy hitting trio playing improvisational jazz, funk, and blues. The three veteran professional include tenor saxophonist Richard Kent, Chris Hollar, and Greg Tivis. Originally, from New Jersey, Kent is a graduate of the UNT Jazz Studies in Denton, and was a featured soloist on the One O’Clock Lab band’s Grammy nominated 1977 album. Kent spent 20 years in New Orleans before retreating to the B/CS area during hurricane Katrina. Currently he performs with the Greg Tivis “Nawlins” Jazz Band, and Midnight Express. Drummer Chris Hollar is a hard-hitting jazz/funk/stuidio drummer from Tennessee, has a Masters degree in Jazz Studies, and is currently director of the Jazz & Athletic Bands at A&M. Performing on his 1974 Hammond B3 organ is a local entertainer better known for his New Orleans style monthly jam sessions and his long running weekend jazz gig at Veritas Wine & Bistro—Jazzman Greg Tivis.
