Fox in the Ground
The Fox and the Ground is a music project fronted by Jonathan Richter. They strive daily to not be completely terrible.
The inevitable result of a talent-soaked soul and jazz community, The Funky Knuckles are taking the sound of Dallas to an entirely different level. They have been together for six years and have played on stages across the U.S and around the world. The band is comprised of musicians and producers who have worked with some of the most respected acts in the music industry (Beyonce, Erykah Badu, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Talib Kweli, Chris Dave, The Polyphonic Spree, etc.), yet possess a sound distinctly separate from any of their individual projects.
The Funky Knuckles move together musically as a school of fish, never complacent and always stretching the boundaries of improvisation and composition. Whether performing original music or standards, they draw from each member’s musical experiences to create their unique genre-bending sound. They are currently touring internationally and working on new music for their 4th album.
Their second album “Meta-Musica” held the #1 position on the iTunes jazz charts for over a week. They played for sold out audiences across Europe in April 2016 on their first tour overseas.
Dossey is the moniker for artist/songwriter Sarah Dossey, an Austin-based member of folk outfits, The Reliques and Indian & The Jones.
In 2006, Sarah won the Kerrville Folk Festival University Songwriter’s Competition at the University of Texas, and since then has traveled throughout Texas with The Reliques, opening for Derek Webb, Casting Crowns, Paul Coleman, and Phil Wickham. Sarah has traveled to East Asia and Scotland as a member of Austin Sound Exchange – a mission-focused organization that brings the “Austin” sound (Americana, Country, Bluegrass and Folk) to listeners all over the world.
In early 2014, Sarah sought the help of producers Kevin McCollough and Jacob Hildebrand, turning what were once strictly folk songs into ambient electronic movements. Out of this grand exploration of what these folks songs could truly be – cinematic, thematic soundscapes and strong pop melodies – Dossey was born. Since then, Dossey has been featured as a New & Noteable artist on Noisetrade, an artist of the month on Altarwork, and has performed with Gungor, Beautiful Eulogy and Levi the Poet.

Odd Folks
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Odd Folks live a few times here in the Bryan/College Station area. With each show, Odd Folks brings an energetic magnetism to the stage. They don’t shy away from getting the audience involved and make sure you feel like a part of the show. It’s inviting and invigorating all at once with a fresh feel every time. Seryn is a multi-talented band formed in Denton, Texas. This young band started their career playing shows around Texas but has since been on multiple, very successful nation-wide tours. Following a recent move to Nashville, Seryn is more driven and unified than ever.
Seryn’s first album, “This is Where We Are,” received praise for the bands natural ability to layer guitars, ukulele, accordion, violin, banjo, percussion, and bass. Seryn’s live shows proved that their musical ability extended outside of the studio. Their perfect harmonies and natural musical talent ensured that Seryn was going to be a success.
Since the release of their first album, Seryn has gone through some changes. The band moved to Nashville, changed management, and became an independent band, but the change has only solidified the direction of the band and their hopes for the future. Seryn’s second album, “Shadow Shows,” was released earlier this year and has led them to more fans and more success. Their live shows have continued to improve, and crowds are amazed at this band’s ability to captivate an audience of any size. We are excited to welcome Seryn back to Grand Stafford Theater!
Don’t miss your chance to see this awesome Texas-raised band. Get your tickets to see their show on Thursday, October 15 with Votaryhere.
