KEOS Welcomes John Fullbright
September 3, 2021 @ 5:00 pm
The KEOS 89.1 FM Lone Star Music Series proudly presents John Fullbright (9 pm) and his band in concert at the Grand Stafford Theater in downtown Bryan, TX, on Friday, September 3. Special guests for the evening include Britt Lloyd and Bright Knight (6 pm), Dale & Waylon (7 pm), and Chubby Knuckle Choir (8 pm). Doors open at 5 pm. This program made possible in part through Hotel Tax Revenue funded from the City of College Station and the City of Bryan through the Arts Council of Brazos Valley.
John Fullbright (https://www.johnfullbrightmusic.com) got his start at the legendary Blue Door listening room in Oklahoma City. It was there that he recorded a live album and found his base, opening for many other writers including fellow Oklahomans Kevin Welch and Jimmy Webb. His 2012 studio debut, From the Ground Up, received a Grammy nomination for Americana Album of the Year, and later that year he won ASCAP’s Harold Adamson Award for lyric writing. In 2014, John released the critically acclaimed Songs, toured all over America and the UK, and appeared on “Late Night with David Letterman.”
Chubby Knuckle Choir (https://www.thechubbyknucklechoir.com) came from former bass man, and original member Curtis Farley in a comedic moment, while working in Twisted Twig Studio with current members Perry Lowe and Rory Smith. Their style is categorized as Blues Rock but it often crosses several genres…so they call it Acid Funk-Soulgrass. With thoughtfully crafted tunes and lyrics that catch you off guard with their clarity and brutal honesty, the band delivers quality entertainment without any pretense and takes things back to the days of accessible, self-deprecating live shows. With a fresh approach but continuing the formula of unique instrumentation, all are singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists who come from varying musical and geographical backgrounds, which is embraced by the band to encourage diversity of thought in their music. Their most recent album, All These Days, was released in 2019. Their most recent single is “Fall From Grace,” released in 2021.
Dale & Waylon (https://daleandwaylon.com) are the combination of Jake Waylon Lehman and Ryan Dale Davenport. Lifelong friends, at times roommates, extended family, and co-writers. Music was introduced to them at an early age from their fathers. Steve & Mike played many living room shows to the young ears of their sons. A few church group shows later, a garage band or two, and Dale & Waylon were hooked. Always focused on dynamics and harmony, Dale & Waylon provide an intimate show with songs that were “lived in” and “lived through.” Their latest release, a self-titled album, was released in May 2020.
Bright Knight is a husband-wife duo based out of Austin, TX, made up of Claire and Tristan Boyd. Their music is a blend of indie and folk rock. You can find them at soundcloud.com/brightknightband or on Spotify under Claire’s solo project, Claire Domingue.
Britt Lloyd (http://www.brittlloyd.org) is a graduate of Texas A&M University (Class of ’06). With the release of the Britt Lloyd Band’s debut record “Unlabeled” in early 2006, the singles “Chokin On Air” and “Day in Day Out” made leaps up the Texas Music Charts, rising to within the top third of the charts. Fans have their opportunities to witness Britt’s energy packed shows at many major venues and events around Texas. Britt is also a producer and teacher and currently lives in Caldwell, TX.
